Getting used to editing

Well Basically  i was wondering  if  anyone would be able to give me tips on using photoshop, i have photoshop elements 4.0, i'd really like to get photoshop though :/ Basically im finding it quite hard to use and find my way around it! Does anyone have any tips on the subject? I'd really aprreciate a bit of help even on really basic things! We have photoshop at college to use  on apples which i find easier to use than photoshop elements maybe its the way its used on a apple, but basically  i do fashion and we are creating are own images. I'd really like to carry on with this at home and improve my skill level on this, while also learning
